Startup Games Austin 2020 Donates $60,000

Thank you to all of our teams, sponsors, and nonprofits for another epic Startup Games season in Austin! We saw new victors and big wins at the Startup Games Austin 2020 event.

We are thrilled to donate $60K to 17 different nonprofits in Austin through this year’s program. Competing athletes enjoyed new games like the Bag and Bust Relay and Tug of War all while sampling new drinks from our beverage sponsors Tito's, Buffalo Trace, assorted brands via Brown Distributing, Dulce Vida Tequila, Red Bull, BeatBox Beverages, Waterloo, Tiny House Coffee, and CLEAN Cause. We would like to extend a big thank you to our game sponsors, Kastner Gravelle, Buffalo Trace, Silicon Valley Bank, Yonder, and SPIN.

Each team came prepared to win, resulting in fierce competition for the podium and a tie for 2nd place. Modernize claimed the gold for a 3rd time with a commanding 10 point lead. After an unmatched display of Mario Kart skills at the tie-breaker game, OutboundEngine pulled ahead of Saatva to claim the silver trophy and close out the 2020 season. Congratulations to our winning teams and our competing companies!

Our mission is to enhance and build company culture and camaraderie through friendly competition that creates tangible impact in our communities. The Bag and Bust Relay, a new kit making game, created 1,566 hygiene kits for the homeless. Congrats to Modernize (1st place), ShippingEasy (2nd place), and ATX Venture Partners (3rd place) for making the most kits out of 18 teams! These hygiene kits will be donated to the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless (ARCH) and will support the wellness and general health of Austinites without shelter.

2nd Place - Donating $12,000 to Austin Pets Alive!, OutboundEngine

3rd Place- Donating $7,500 to Austin Pathways, Saatva

Companies that participate in the program came together to #PlayToRaise for funds benefiting local nonprofits while building stronger teams. Each participating team’s nonprofit will receive $1,500 through their participation. We are grateful for all participating companies, both sponsors and teams, who participated in this year’s program. All of these companies are catalysts for change in the Austin community.
